Center Update
Students, staff and faculty at Florida Institute of Technology are encouraged to be vaccinated for in-person instruction. Unvaccinated students and staff are required to wear masks, practice social distancing and will undergo regular screening and testing. ELS students can receive free vaccinations in the community on arrival!
About This Center
The campus and the ELS center for learning English in Melbourne are also just minutes from white sand beaches and about an hour’s drive from Florida’s famous theme and water parks. Students can soak up the sun and experience fun at some of the world’s best amusement parks when not in class.
Learn English at Florida Institute of Technology
Florida Institute of Technology is one of the most beautiful campuses in the nation, and it’s where the ELS English Language Center in Melbourne is located. The dynamic, Tier 1 ranked university and research institute is on Central Florida’s innovative space coast.
Upon successful completion of ELS Level 112, you will fulfill the English language entry requirement for conditional admission to Florida Institute of Technology, as well as additional nearby partner colleges and universities.

Housing Options
Homestay
Students in homestay are assigned private rooms in the homes of local families, but they may share a bathroom. Most host families live within a 15-mile radius of the Florida Tech campus and ELS Melbourne, with a commute time between 20 and 30 minutes. Hosts either drive their students or help them take public transportation with the purchase of a reasonable monthly bus pass.

Student Residence (on campus)
Shared dorm room and shared hallway bathroom. Rooms include two desks, two chairs, two lamps, two beds, mini-fridge, and small microwave. Linens are also included. Self-service laundry machines are available in a nearby dorm for a small fee. Security office is nearby. One resident assistant for each floor or wing—one resident assistant for about every 10 students.
